Fresh produce & daffodil producer Blas y Tir have combined forces with local florist Violet + Wylde to create a ‘heart-FULL of gratitude’; a beautiful heart-shaped installation made from 5,000 Welsh daffodils, for all of the hard-working NHS staff at Withybush General Hospital.

The daffodil season usually runs from January until the end of March; towards the end of the season Blas y Tir had some daffodils that were surplus to requirements, and decided to put them to good use.

Huw Thomas, Managing Director of Puffin Produce, the home of Blas y Tir said,

“As we approached the Easter break, we had our local Welsh NHS staff in our minds who have been working so incredibly hard, especially over the past year, caring for others. We thought if anyone needs a pick-me up right now, it’s our NHS front line workers.”

“Daffodils are always guaranteed to make people smile and lift spirits, and we thought it would be a great way to let our NHS staff know we appreciate them by making something special out of our spare daffodils. We have had the pleasure of working with Rachel before and knew she had the skills to create something amazing, and we are absolutely delighted with her ‘heart-FULL of gratitude’ creation.”

“I have friends that work in Withybush hospital and I know from them how hard work has been – and it was so rewarding to hear that the daffodil display made them smile at the start of their shifts.”

Rachel Treadaway-Williams, owner of Pembrokeshire based Violet + Wylde, who created the feature said,

“This last year has been extraordinary and the lengths that individuals have gone to in the name of service is beyond words.  The sacrifices that those in the NHS in particular have had to make, sometimes going without seeing their own children and immediate family for extended periods of time, risking their lives on a daily basis to save those of complete strangers, really does fill your heart to bursting with admiration.”

“So, when Blas y Tir approached me about the project it made total sense to create an installation that expressed that sentiment right at the heart of our local NHS… ‘A Heart-FULL of Gratitude,’ in the form of a heart, full of seasonal joy, daffodils.  To all our NHS heroes who’ve gone not just ‘above and beyond’ but ‘beyond and beyond’ over the last year, a heartfelt Thank You.”

“I must just add a big thank you to the Estates Team at Withybush General Hospital, whose positive can-do attitude was just brilliant.  Also, thanks to the friends and family who assisted to make it all possible. If you are posting pictures of ‘A heart-FULL of gratitude’ on social media it would be great if you could include the hashtag #lovetheNHS.”

Janice Cole-Williams, Hospital Manager at Withybush General Hospital said of the installation:

We would like to say a huge thank you to Blas y Tir for donating the daffodils, and to Rachel Treadway-Williams for making such a fantastic display at Withybush Hospital for Easter. It looks amazing and is a wonderful tribute to our NHS both nationally and locally.”
